This one day conference, run by the Department of Human Nutrition at Glasgow University, is intended to provide a clinical update on weight management and to offer practical advice and strategies on how this can be most effectively achieved.

Obesity is the most widespread nutritional disorder in adults worldwide.  It is widely recognised obesity causes significant health problems and is a huge burden on healthcare costs.  A significant proportion of heart disease, several major cancers include (breast, uterus, prostate, colon) and disability from arthritis and back pain could be avoided or at least delayed if weight gain could be checked.   Multi disciplinary health professionals and other professionals have a major role to play in helping patients to control obesity.
