Framework for Nursing in General Practice

The Scottish Executive Health Department are currently developing a Framework for Nursing in General Practice.

The framework will be a resource to practices and practice nurses, supporting the development of nursing in the context of the new GMS contract, which presents many exciting opportunities for nurses.

As part of the development of the framework, it is planned to hold a consensus workshop on 25th March 2004 at the Edinburgh Airport Hilton Hotel.

The workshop will be of direct interest to anyone involved in the employment and development of nursing in general Practice, including practice nurses, GPs, practice managers, LHCC managers and professional leads, practice development nurses, nurse leaders and educators.

The event will be participative in nature.   Participants will have the opportunity to discuss key issues arising from development work to date and help shape the final framework into a useful resource for both practices and practice nurses.

Because of the participative nature of the event, places will be limited to 150 and efforts will be made to ensure a good balance of interests.
