The Counterweight Conference

Tuesday 18th September 2007

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow

Counterweight is the only fully evaluated, evidence-based, primary care weight management programme within the UK.   The programme was launched in 2000 as the result of a group of consultant physicians recognising the need to improve the management of obesity in primary care.

It is a low-cost practice-led programme which equips general practitioners and practice nurses to be able to provide evidence-based approaches to weight management.   It is the first published large scale primary care weight management programme in the UK to show clinical effective weight reduction using a structured approach to care.

This conference has been designed to provide you with clear up to date information on obesity and weight management as well as presenting findings from the work of the innovative Counterweight Project.   You have the opportunity to network with others who have an interest in this area and take away practical information which can be applied in your work setting.   The conference programme will be delivered by leading experts in the field of obesity and weight management.

Cost: £40 including lunch and refreshments.
